BOM DIA! （ポルトガル語の「おはよう」）ポルトガルで最も古い美術館のMuseu Nacional de Arte Antiga (ポルトガル国立古美術館)の館長又は学芸員と同国立図書館の館長は７月の初め頃にご来県されました。７月１４日（土）から９月２４日（月）まで古代出雲歴史博物館で開催される世界遺産登録記念　の「輝き ふたたび　石見銀山展」にポルトガル国立古美術館及び国立図書館は銀器類２２点を展示することになりました。当時のポルトガルは日本の銀を利用して、東アジアやアメリカ大陸などと貿易していたらしい。１６世紀から１７世紀にかけてポルトガルでも「香入れ」など石見銀の装飾品が作られていました。１３日大田市大森町石見銀山の遺産を視察したり、１５日に足立美術館・県立美術館・松江城など視察や観光したりしていました。

産業振興財団、産業振興課、いずも屋、クレストロン日本など、私とよく仕事していた友達と友達の家族と一緒に素敵な食事会を行いました。場所は秋鹿町に近い二百年間建ての屋敷で食事しました。茶室から宍道湖まで見えたし、雪見灯篭が置いてある庭園もすばらしいし、最高な眺めでした。島根県に来てから、この大切な友達のおかげで、将来に役立つ経験、勉強、島根の楽しさなどなどたくさんさせて頂きました。大変感謝いたします。島根は一生忘れられないものです。

島根県隠岐郡海士町におけるスピーチコンテストに参加した。私がしたスピーチのテーマは「島根を活力ある県にしていきましょう」であった。起業家についてアメリカと日本の考え方の違い、そして起業がどうやってイノベーションにつながるのか、その起業家がどうやって島根の活性化につなげるのかということを論理的に述べようと頑張った。かわいい女性も参加した。それが一番良かったかも。

８月２５日に開催する世界陸上大阪大会に競技するアイルランド選手団を代表してアイルランド陸上協会のガリー・ライアン（Gary Ryan）監督が今月２７日に松江市に来られ、市長表敬をはじめ、松江市の施設を事前視察も行われました。本番の前に１０日間松江市でアイルランド選手団は事前合宿をすることとなっています。配信された松江市のメール広報に市長表敬のことや市営陸上競技場視察などが公開されていました。２８日松江を出て、一緒に大阪へ向かいました。長居陸上競技場を視察しました。

日曜日に初めて宍道湖でのウインドサーフィンレッスンを開催しました。東風でやや弱くて、初心者には良いコンディションでした。今度のはイギリス人で、現在島根で英語教師として活躍している方でした。最初にはバランスを取りにくかったが、だんだんと慣れてきて、最終にはセイル（帆）とボードと身体、その３つをコントロールできました。またこんど是非やりたいと言ってくれました。（関連ブログのアーカイブはこちら）

土曜日に鳥取砂丘に行って参りました。電車でも３時間半ぐらい以外とかかりましたが、やっと着いたら、なんとアラビア砂漠ぽい風景が見えてきました。ラクダ（子供３人乗り）もいたし。ラクダに乗るには千八百円（一人）でちょっと高くて遠慮しました。でも、ラクダ話だけではなく、砂丘を楽しめるには色々あります。遠隔操作の飛行機を飛ばしたり、パラセーリング（モーターボート無し）したり、サンドボードで滑って降りたり、海で泳いだり、するいろいろあります。水着を忘れた私は失敗と感じたが、サンドボードをやっている二人にちょっとやらせてもらいました。ま～楽しいけど、砂だらけという感じかなと思いました。二十世紀梨で有名な鳥取県ですので、砂丘に近い店の殆どは梨ソフトとか、梨シェーク、梨ならなんでもありました。砂丘に行ったことのない方には、是非近いうちに行ってみてください！

島根県出雲空港に着陸するところで、初めて見たのは宍道湖でした。それ以降、宍道湖でウインドサーフィンやろうとずっと思っていました。兵庫県にあるLANIKAIウインドサーフィン用品の店から大分前にボード購入しましたが、問題はどうやって宍道湖まで運んで行けるかということでした。他の交流員のおかげでやっと出来ました！小型のダイハツＭＩＲＡで何とか無事に宍道湖まで運んで行きました。こんな風景でした：でも、その努力の結果はこれなんです：アゴ（飛び魚）に気を付けろ！

５月２７日に１７１０.６ｍ大山を登山しました。天気が晴れて中国から飛んでくる黄砂も少なくて、なかなか良い一日でした。冬の時にスノーボードしに行った大山と今の大山がかなり違っていて、良い経験となりました。ブナ林が特にきれいでした。

客船の「クリッパーオデッセイ」の歓迎セレモニーを５月１７日に司会者として開催しました。14日13泊ということで、今年の夏に客船で観光客が日本をぐるっと回ります。一つの寄港が鳥取県境港です。今回の乗船の皆様は殆ど米国カリフォルニア州の出身者でした。境港寄港で境港市観光協会と島根県観光振興課を代表として歓迎しました。それで島根県安来市の郷土民謡「安来節」の音楽にのせて、「どじょう掬い踊り」を披露されました。この踊りというのはどじょうを捕まえるときのコミカルな動作です。踊りを披露していただいたのは境港のエンターテイナー「ジミー柴田」さんでした。それから、船を降りてから、足立美術館を始め、色々な観光地に見学しに行きました。

That's a lot of people. Each day we do around 10k - 12k (however this is only around 10% of the visitors to bampaku). we move them pretty decently through... depending upon the time of day, weather, etc. we'll have upwards of 270 in each the main show, pre-show, and post show, and another 150 pre-queued into "wheat field" at any given time.anyway, this whole deal was laughably gimmicky.
